Contrast level

The amount of visual difference between your hair, skin and eyes — and the amount of contrast a colour combination contains.

What it means

Contrast level is about jumps. A person with dark hair, pale skin and bright eyes has high natural contrast. A person with sandy hair, fair skin and pale eyes has low natural contrast. Outfit contrast (a black shirt with a white collar) reads differently on these two people: high-contrast clothing harmonises with high-contrast colouring, and low-contrast outfits harmonise with low-contrast colouring.

How it shows up in your Better in Style analysis

We use contrast level to tune outfit advice — whether to pair colours close in value (good for low-contrast Soft Summer) or to mix dramatically light and dark pieces (good for high-contrast Bright Winter).
